Captain Mohit Singh, an aviator, not merely a pilot, embarked on a life-altering journey. Born into the lineage of an Air India Captain, aviation was an inherent part of his world. This narrative encompasses the experiences of those who answered the call of the skies, embracing the discipline, aptitude, and courage required to become pilots.

From hangars to homes, airport restaurants to ramps, this story mirrors the essence of flying, as narrated by a pilot. It encapsulates the exhilarating sensation of taking one's first solo flight, the poignant emotions of the final flight, and the unique camaraderie among pilots, where shared flying experiences transform strangers into friends.

What truly excites pilots like Captain Mohit is the opportunity to share the world of aviation with non-pilots, airport communities, leaders, and anyone willing to listen. This story is a tribute to those who have ever sat alone in an aircraft, pushed the throttle forward, raced down the runway, and taken flight. It especially resonates with those who aspire to follow the same path.

For most people, the sky marks the limit, but for a pilot, the sky is home, and the airplane is the office. This is the story of their journey home—a pilot's tale.

As a child, Captain Mohit never envisioned the profound love he would develop for aircraft and flying. On his third birthday, his father inquired about the type of birthday cake he desired, and he promptly chose an airplane-shaped one.

His passion for aviation took flight during a visit to Singapore when he acquired 'The Observer's Book of Aircraft' by William Green. This book unlocked a realm of aircraft specifications, technical details, and aviation terminology—a vocabulary that would shape his future. He also stumbled upon 'Pilot's Career Guide' by Capt. Shekhar Gupta, an invaluable resource.

Soon, Captain Mohit earned the moniker 'Pilot' among his friends, who turned to him for information about aircraft, even those soaring at great altitudes. His ears became attuned to the subtle sounds of aircraft engines, and he began accumulating a library of aviation books. By the time he completed his schooling at 18, his shelves were filled with them.

The day after his high school graduation, Captain Mohit's father accompanied him to the Bangalore Flying Club to enroll as a Student Pilot. Within 14 months and 15 flying hours on Pushpak MKI and Cessna 150 VT MPF, he was prepared for his first solo flight. It was an exhilarating experience, and he realized he had transformed into a genuine aviator.

However, the real challenges commenced after his maiden solo flight. He comprehended why many Indian pilots shared a complex relationship with DGCA and Indian aviation officials. Flight opportunities dwindled, and frustration mounted. After 17 months of waiting, he finally obtained his Indian Private Pilot Certificate. He then decided to further his training in the United States.

Upon arriving in the United States, Captain Mohit faced a steep learning curve, as his Indian training had instilled different methods and styles. Nevertheless, with the guidance of his flight instructor, James Golfin (Jimmy), he adapted and made progress.

Upon returning to India, Captain Mohit found himself teaching at the same flying club where he had trained. Adapting to the traditional Indian flying culture proved challenging, but he persevered. As he continued accumulating flight hours, he also prepared for his ATPL and successfully passed all the required exams. Aviation had evolved beyond a profession or a hobby; it had become a passion, an obsession.

When Air India announced openings for Trainee Co-Pilots for Boeing 737 aircraft, Captain Mohit seized the opportunity, leaving his role as an assistant pilot instructor to prepare for the exams. He secured the top position in the selection process, thanks to his unique blend of experiences.

At the DGCA office, Captain Mohit crossed paths with Captain Madhumita Gupta, a Canadian pilot striving to convert her CPL to an Indian DGCA CPL. Her struggle resonated with him, and he assisted her in navigating the conversion process. This forged a deep connection between them, and they celebrated with a candlelight dinner at Hotel Taj, culminating in a proposal. Their love story had taken flight.

As time passed, Madhu had to return to Canada, where her family resided. She aspired to pursue an airline career and saw better opportunities in India due to the global recession. On the other hand, Captain Mohit joined Air Assam in Guwahati to accumulate more flying hours. It was a challenging job with minimal pay, but he needed those hours.

After achieving the requisite 1,510 hours in his logbook, Captain Mohit returned to the DGCA to pursue his ATPL. This time, he encountered Mr. Rajan, the same agent who had assisted Madhu with her conversion. He paid a substantial sum to expedite his paperwork but was devastated to learn, after an agonizing wait, that his application had been rejected due to the requirement of 1,000 hours as PIC (Pilot in Command).

Feeling disheartened, Captain Mohit accepted Madhu's invitation to join her flight school in Canada and obtain his Canadian ATPL. The flight to Canada was a blend of fear and excitement, but he clung to the belief that everything happened for a reason.

Meeting Madhu at the Montreal airport filled Captain Mohit with relief and joy. They settled into her home, and his affection for her deepened. He commenced his flight training with Captain Bob and made significant progress. Within weeks, he felt like a new person, brimming with energy, focus, and happiness. Flying became an integral part of his life, and Madhu's presence added wings to his journey. Their love flourished, and they openly expressed their affection for each other.

Captain Mohit obtained his ATPL in Canada and even became a flight instructor. Subsequently, he heard about Canada's 'Mission to Canada' campaign, and, impressed by their vision of affordable, high-quality flight training, he collaborated with them to attract Indian students to their flying club.

Madhu's father, Captain Robin Gupta, the owner of the Ottawa Flying Club, was pleased with this development. Witnessing their happiness together, he proposed that Captain Mohit marry Madhu. Overjoyed, Captain Mohit shared the news with his parents, and they were thrilled.

They decided to have two weddings, one in India and one in Canada, to celebrate their union. The Indian wedding was a vibrant and colorful affair, steeped in traditions and customs. It was a grand celebration that made them feel like royalty. Subsequently, they had their distinctive aviation-themed wedding in a hangar, with a beautifully adorned aircraft as their backdrop. Madhu looked stunning in her white gown.

Today, after four years, they run two flourishing flying clubs with a carefully selected aircraft fleet and skilled trainers. Both Captain Mohit and Madhu are passionate and content. When asked about the secret to their happiness, they attribute it to being surrounded by what they are passionate about.

Their journey has been one of love, aviation, and dreams coming true, and they wouldn't have it any other way. ✈️💑❤️
