Job Description: Air New Zealand is currently seeking expressions of interest for Pilots to join our Jet Fleets. Successful candidates will initially join as second Officers on B787 or B777 Aircraft, or first Officers on our A320/A321 Aircraft. As a Pilot with Air New Zealand, you will play a key role in delivering world-class service and safety to our customers.

The Recruitment process for the Jet Fleet is governed by the Regional Pilot Priority Process (RPPP), where the majority of Jet Pilot vacancies are filled by internal transfers from our turboprop Fleets. However, there are limited opportunities for external Pilots to join.

Qualifications:

  • New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), with Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)

  • NZCAA Class 1 Medical Certificate

  • NZCAA Basic Training Knowledge (BTK) / Basic General Training (BGT) qualification

  • University Entrance or equivalent education

  • English Language Proficiency Level 6 or greater

  • Only New Zealand citizens, Australian citizens, or New Zealand permanent residents will be considered

  • Valid passport and ability to travel overseas, including necessary visas


Key Requirements:

  • 12 months of command experience on a Part 121 (or equivalent) turboprop Aircraft, or 12 months of first Officer experience on a Part 121 or Part 125 Jet Aircraft, or command experience with the RNZAF or other Air forces on Aircraft of similar size to Part 121 turboprops

  • NZCAA BTK/BGT qualification and university entrance or equivalent education

  • Strong problem-solving skills, customer focus, and a friendly, can-do attitude

  • Ability to join the Jet seniority list, which includes new Jet Pilots starting at the bottom, below internal turboprop Pilots

First Officer – Turboprop Fleet

Job Role: First Officer – Turboprop Fleet
Location: Auckland, New Zealand


Job Description: Air New Zealand is seeking expressions of interest from Pilots who wish to join our turboprop fleets, Flying either an ATR or Dash 8 Q300. As a First Officer in our turboprop fleet, you will be an integral part of the team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of flights while delivering exceptional service to our customers. Positions are available at several bases across the country, providing opportunities for both those focused on a career Flying turboprops and those looking to eventually transition into our jet fleet.

Qualifications:

  • New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), with ATPL subjects passed preferred

  • NZCAA Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)

  • NZCAA Class 1 Medical Certificate

  • Minimum 500 hours total Flying time

  • 25 hours of night Flying

  • 40 hours of instrument flight time

  • NZCAA Basic Training Knowledge (BTK) / Basic General Training (BGT) endorsements

  • University Entrance or equivalent qualification

  • English Language Proficiency Level 6 or greater

  • New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or Australian citizen. Must be eligible to travel internationally, with a valid passport and the necessary visas.
