Job Role: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Structures (Sheet Metal)
Location: Christchurch, New Zealand

Air New Zealand Engineering and Maintenance in Christchurch is currently seeking permanent Aircraft Maintenance Engineers - Structures to join their dedicated Team. As part of this highly specialized role, you will be responsible for performing metal structural Repairs and modifications on Aircraft and components, including those on the Air New Zealand fleet as well as customer Aircraft.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and safety-conscious individual with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality. This role requires someone who thrives in a Team environment and is passionate about providing excellent customer service. You will be expected to think creatively, solve complex technical challenges, and meet regulatory, compliance, and safety requirements. Strong communication skills are essential as you will interact with a variety of people on a daily basis, including fellow engineers, supervisors, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform metal structural Repairs, modifications, and fabrication on a variety of Aircraft and their components.
Maintain the highest safety standards while working with complex equipment and systems.
Ensure all work complies with Air New Zealand’s policies, industry regulations, and safety procedures.
Troubleshoot and diagnose structural issues, providing clear and effective solutions.
Work in collaboration with other engineers and Team members to ensure efficient operations.
Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and continually stay updated on industry standards.
Communicate clearly and effectively with Team members, supervisors, and customers, ensuring that all parties are informed of project status and requirements.

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

Completed a Trade Apprenticeship within the Aircraft industry or a Level 4 National Certificate in a relevant field.
Significant experience and knowledge in Aircraft metal Structure Repairs, fabrication, and modification.
Demonstrated proficiency in working with a wide range of metalworking tools and equipment.
A deep understanding of the Air New Zealand values, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Previous experience in Structures or metalworking in an aviation environment is essential.
The ability to think critically and approach challenges with innovative solutions, while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Familiarity with legislative and regulatory standards governing the aviation industry and adherence to these regulations.
