Ethiopian Airlines, formerly Ethiopian Air Lines (EAL), is the flag carrier of Ethiopia, and is wholly owned by the country's government. EAL was founded on 21 December 1945 and commenced operations on 8 April 1946, expanding to international flights in 1951. The firm became a share company in 1965 and changed its name from Ethiopian Air Lines to Ethiopian Airlines.

The airline has been a member of the International Air Transport Association since 1959 and of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) since 1968.  Ethiopian is a Star Alliance member, having joined in December 2011. The company slogan is The New Spirit of Africa. Ethiopian's hub and headquarters are at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, from where it serves a network of 125 passenger destinations—20 of them domestic—and 44 freighter destinations. POSITION 1: TRAINEE PILOT

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: BSC Degree in Electrical/ Electronics/Aeronautical / Mechanical /Civil/ Industrial/ Chemical/ Computer/Software/ Electronics and Communication / Hardware Engineering/ Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Information Science/Information Technology or any Engineering or IT related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 from Recognized Ethiopian Higher Institutions.

OR

BSC/BA Degree in any other field of study with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 from recognized Ethiopian Higher Institutions and a minimum of ‘8’ In 10th grade EGSEC in Mathematics, Physics and English each or 50% grade point in Ethiopian University Entrance Exam in Mathematics, Physics and English each,

Age limit: < 25 years old

Height:

Male – Minimum of 1.70 Meter

Female — Minimum of 1.65 Meter

English Language Proficiency: Level III


POSITION 2: TRAINEE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of Ethiopian University Entrance Exam Result Completion and 50% grade point in Mathematics, Physics and English Language each.

OR

A minimum of College Diploma /10+3/level III/IV certificate in Electrical Mechanical Aeronautical/ Industrial engineering or any related field of study from recognized TVET/College/ University.

Age limit: 18- 28 years old inclusive for Internal applicants and 18-35 years old Inclusive for External applicants.

Height: A minimum of 1.60 cm for both male and female .

English Language Proficiency: Level III

 

POSITION 3: TRAINEE CABIN CREW

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of Level II/10+2 certificate from a recognized Institute/College/University

Age Limit: 21- 30 years old

Height: A Minimum of 1.58 Meter & minimum arm reach of 212cm.

Weight; Proportional to height.

English language Proficiency: Level III,

knowledge of other international languages other than English is advantageous.

 

POSITION 4: SCHOOL OF MARKETING

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of Ethiopian University Entrance Exam Result Completion.

OR

A Minimum of College Diploma/10+3/Level III Certificate in Social/Natural Science field of studies from a recognized TVET/College/ University.

Age limit: 18-35 years old

English Language Proficiency: Level III (Proficiency level will be assessed by EAA),

REGISTRATION DATE: From September 06, 2022 up to September 15, 2022.

REGISTRATION PLACE: Gambella University, Jigjiga University, Afar Region Labour and Skill Bureau.

Airline Pilot Position: -

Airline Pilot responsibilities include:

  • Creating a flight plan, considering aircraft performance, altitude and weather conditions

  • Checking the aircraft before every flight (engines, radars, navigation systems, etc)

  • Ensuring cargo weight doesn’t exceed aircraft limits

Job brief

We are looking for an Airline Pilot to fly our aeroplanes for local and international, short and long-haul flights.

Airline Pilot responsibilities include conducting various pre-flight checks to the aircraft’s operational systems, creating and adjusting flight plans and ensuring secure take-offs and landings. To be considered for this position, you should be a licensed Commercial Airline Pilot and have a minimum of 2,000 hours of flight time.

Ultimately, you will have the overall responsibility for the safety of our crew and passengers.

Responsibilities

  • Create a flight plan, considering aircraft performance, altitude and weather conditions

  • Check the aircraft before every flight (engines, radars, navigation systems, etc)

  • Ensure cargo weight doesn’t exceed aircraft limits

  • Communicate with air traffic control to ensure safe takeoff and landing

  • Ensure the aircraft has adequate fuel supplies

  • Monitor cockpit instruments like altimeters and speed indicators and report any malfunctions

  • Check the aeroplane’s position, weather conditions and air traffic regularly during the flight and determine change of path when needed

  • Work closely with flight attendants to ensure all passengers follow safety rules while being onboard

  • Fill out reports about the flight and the status of the aircraft after landing

Requirements and skills

Commercial Pilot’s Licence (CPL) and Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL)

At least 2,000 hours of flight time

Excellent knowledge of Federal Aviation regulations and safety procedures

20/20 vision (or correctable to 20/20)

Good judgement with the ability to react quickly to hazards

Communication and collaboration skills

Attention to detail

Degree in aircraft engineering, or similar field, is a plus.
