Certification requirements include an unrestricted FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, a current FAA first-class medical certificate, and an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit (RR).


Flight time requirements include a minimum of 1,500 hours of total time, with a preference for 1,000 hours of fixed-wing turbine time and a minimum of 100 hours of flight time within the last 12 months. General requirements include a current passport, legal right to work in the United States, and the ability to travel freely within the U.S. and to all countries served by United. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is necessary, and a bachelor's degree is preferred.


All foreign transcripts must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. degrees by a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate must be presented on the first day of employment, and participation in United's Reasonable Accommodation Process (RAP) is required if vaccination is not possible due to medical or religious reasons.


Reliable and punctual attendance is deemed essential, with availability without planned absences during the first twelve weeks of employment.
