Etihad Airways will no longer Operate Boeing 777-300ER Jet Aircrafts
Donia Elizabeth
Etihad Airways to ground its Boeing 777-300ER and A380s Etihad Airways has stated that they are no longer going to operate their Boeing 777-300ER jets. They have also planned to ground its 10 Airbus A380s as well.
Etihad Airways, the second flag carrier of the UAE is now focusing on being a more streamlined and focused airline from now on. The CEO, Tony Douglas stated at the World Aviation Festival that, “we have gone far too diversified when it came to fleet types to be operationally efficient”
He also stated that “You will see of us, a very focused, a very disciplined operating model which is heavily built around the fleet of the 787 Dreamliner and A350-1000,” This would be mean that the airline is now going to streamline its business to make it more focused and transform the same into a boutique airline.
The airline has also planned to ground 10 of its Airbus A380s “indefinitely”. As per the CEO, he believes that the flights are amazing as it is, but given the current situation of the aviation industry, he feels that they are no longer commercially sustainable. This is because the A380 fleet of Etihad has not flown much in 2020 and it is not showing much of a future as well. The CEO even though was reluctant to say it would never come back but the message was passed on loud and clear. This has been the impact of the pandemic on the Airline.
Etihad is now going to be functioning mainly on its fleet of Dreamliners where, 40 of them are currently flying. The fleet being divided between 30 of 787-9 and a smaller fleet of 10 787-10s. Douglas believed that these are not just operationally efficient but are also contributing heavily to the Airline’s sustainability goals as well. Many Pilots Captain and First Officer with Cabin Crew Members will be Unemployed due to this decision.

Business Plan for Indian FTA / FTO with Air Charters with 10 Aircraft and 2 Bases
Bhawana Aggarwal
Industry Analysis:
Air charter market in India, in terms of growth opportunity:
There is a niche market here with India embarking on a lot of infrastructure projects and also looking to become a manufacturing base. This is only expected to grow in the future. With the rate of growth of the Indian middle class and the entrepreneurial nature of Indian business.
factors hindering the growth of this segment:
With scheduled Airlines going through a turbulent period, it is time to turn to a more reliable source of flying Air charters. There has indeed been a slowdown and the Euro zone crisis has affected not only charter operators but also scheduled Airlines. India has also not been isolated from this. However, the scope of the charter market in India is poised to expand as big infrastructure projects are being undertaken by the Indian government and private companies, both domestically and internationally.
Compression of Air charter market of India with China and other developed markets:
In spite of the rapid economic growth and technological advancements in our country, the Air travel sector is still waiting for a major change. While the government is positively working towards encouraging growth in the Aviation industry by bringing drastic changes in policies, current infrastructure is hardly capable to handle the growth. In developed markets, there are over 11,000 helicopters and thousands of private Aircraft in commercial or private use. In India, with a population of approximately over 110 crores, we have just around 175 helicopters and approximately 100 Aircraft being commercially or privately used. The use of Aircraft charter services through helicopters has a distinct advantage over scheduled operators. It provides the fastest available mode of transport on short notice, the quickest accessibility to remote areas, no waiting time at check-in counters and at Airports for connecting flights and hence is a boon to the time-conscious customer.
Company analysis:
AirCrews Aviation Pvt. Ltd. is the only company of its type in Asia. It is the only startup in the Aviation sector that cover the diverse domains of aeronautics, such as:
•Air Charters
•Pilot Training
•Aviation HR services
•Aviation Apps
•Aviation Books
•Aviation Blogs
•Aviation Lead Generation

The company have various categories of clients such as Air Charters to Tycoons, Pilot Training to buddy Pilots, Aviation HR Services to AME, Cabin Crew and Pilots, Aviation Blogs to AME, Aviation Lead Generation to Pilot Training Academy, Aviation Link Building to AME, and Management Internships for IIT and IIM students only.
The organization believes in a skilled workforce to provide valuable services. For the accomplishment of this target, the company is regularly involved in training and development programs.
Vision: To be a landmark in providing Overseas Training Education to deserving Asian Pilots in the field of Aviation and make them competent to be a force to reckon with in the International Aviation arena.
Mission: To bring out the innate talents of Indian students to the fore, channelize in a constructively way and guide them for quality overseas education to make a mark for themselves in their academic and professional life.
India's previous experience with FTA (Free trade agreement):
Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs) have become increasingly prevalent since the early 1990s. RTAs cover more than half of international trade and operate alongside global multilateral agreements under the World Trade Organization (WTO).
This regional initiative between developing economies was re-incarnated as Asia Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA). India’s first bilateral FTA with Sri Lanka (ISFTA) came into effect in March 2000.
However, the utilization rate of India’s FTAs is very low. Most estimates put it at less than 25%. Some of the major reasons for underutilization are:
•Lack of information on FTAs
•Low margins of preference
•Delays and administrative costs associated with rules of origin
•Non-tariff measures
Marketing strategy:
In this digital world, it has become very important to market your business innovatively to attract more customers and for making more sales. Innovative Marketing strategies are important for most of the industries, especially Airlines. Without some unique and never seen before Marketing tactics, you can’t survive in this competitive world. Following are some suggested Marketing plans:
1.Create your own loyalty program:
Under this kind of programs, we can provide some gift to our consumers. This will help them to connect us forever.
2.Create an impact:
In any type of Marketing, creating an impact on your targeted audience is a must. The worst thing that Airlines do is not make a unique place in the customer’s heart. One of the way to create an impact is social services. When customers read about the work done by Airlines they can feel themselves connect with them.
3.Strat stunning social media campaigns:
We are living in a world where people spend most of their daily time on social media. We can start paid advertising on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. With paid ads, we can target people in specific locations. Through these social media platforms, you can get intensely targeted customers.
4.Focus on existing customers:
The Airline should focus on their customers first. Existing customers of the Airline are going to benefit the Airline companies more than the new customers via mouth publicity.
5.Use the power of Influencers:
Influencer Marketing is currently booming. All major industries are looking at influencer Marketing as the best way of getting a better ROI. The Airlines should also implement effective influencer Marketing strategies. There are many benefits of influencer Marketing strategy that can help any Airline in boosting their business.
Financial Analysis:
Industry average rate for leased Aircraft for Airline (Capital expense):
Cost for rent $385,000 per month or INR 2,69,50,000 per month
Annual Rent $4,620,000 per year or INR 32,34,00,000 per year
For ten Aircraft:
Cost of Aircraft rent: $3,850,000 per month or INR 26,95,00,000 per month
Annual rent $46,200,000 per year or INR 3,23,40,00,000 per year
Cost of Airbase: INR 1,00,000 per square meter or USD 7,000,000 per square meter.
Other direct and indirect operating (floating) cost:
Only 100 Captains and First Officers [Co-Pilot] are Paid on the Boeing Fleet
News Team
Afreen, Donia, Shruti
75 percent SpiceJet fleets are grounded and only 100 Captains and First Officers [Co-Pilot] are paid on the Boeing fleet, rest of the people are getting Leave Without Pay (LWP). For the Flight Q400 only 150 Captains and 150 First Officers [Co-Pilot] were paid. It seems that for other Airlines too the departures would be cut down and fleets would be grounded for long. An estimate of 50% departures across all the networks would be cut. Seeing the halt around the flights due to covid last year, most of the Airlines across the world had suffered huge losses. Seeing the rumours it is believed that there would come a condition when all simulators would be halted till further notice. That would lead to further losses maybe for the whole aviation sector. Grounding the fleets is at least ensuring that as per the need the flights are working. Airlines incur huge cost in maintenance so controlling only 25 percent flights is a good decision made by SpiceJet. According to the updates, Spicejet has converted three of its Bombardier Q400 passenger Aircraft into freighters in May 2020, to help with the primary operations of covid -19 in smaller cities in India.
It was recently reported by Flying-Crews.com that SpiceJet Ltd. is expected to post miserable financial results for the March quarter (Q4FY21). They also reported that there would be a dip in the Passenger load factors (PLFs) to 75% and further an expected dip in the yields by 5%.
All these point towards a company moving towards huge losses. In addition to that the second wave of Covid-19 across the country has added to the scenario. As per what ICICI Securities Ltd analysts wrote in a report on 19 April, “Weekly average daily fliers came in at around 193,000 in the week ended 17 April versus around 232,000 in the week ended 10 April." This shows that the situation ahead is also not very promising towards a better growth in passengers or yields. This is expected to be the reason for this take of SpiceJet on it’s fleet and employees
This is not the first time that SpiceJet has decided on grounding of the Fleet. According to the reports July 2020, due to Coronavirus and the two-months long lockdown were the reasons behind the Airline’s dull performance and grounding of the 737 MAX.

A Flight can look like a petri dish, especially during an Epidemic or Covid19 Pandemic.
The reality is a bit more granular.
While there are risks associated with Flying, it may be safer than you think.
For starters, the Air quality on a commercial Airliner is actually quite high, the amount of Air in the cabin is completely refreshed every two to four minutes. The Air flows vertically into the cabin - it enters from the overhead vent and is sent downward in a circular motion, exiting at floor level. Once the Air exits the cabin, about half is thrown out, and the remainder is sent through HEPA (high-efficiency particulate Air) filters, similar to those used in hospitals, before Mix with the outside Air and re-enter the cabin.
Of course, passengers and Aircraft crew moving up and down can disrupt this Airflow, altering the path of any Airborne particles. And while HEPA filters used in commercial aviation can filter 99.97% of virus-sized particles, they cannot capture every respiratory drop or viral aerosol before another person can breathe.
Nevertheless, the design of Air-handling systems on commercial Aircraft makes it unlikely that you are breathing Air from anyone more than a few rows away. In fact, a 2018 study examined transmission of small droplet respiratory diseases during transcontinental Flights found that the probability of infecting an infectious passenger with a respiratory infection spread by influenza or another droplet was much less likely Thi which gives passengers away from two sides or two seats. Row forward or backward.
And he was without a mask.
If your Airline requires all passengers and crew to cover the face, your Flight will be even safer, which is designed to contain respiratory droplets before being ejected into the Air. Applying masks on planes can make a difference in real-world evidence. Early in the coronovirus epidemic, a person flew from Wuhan to Toronto with a dry cough and later tested positive for COVID-19. He wore a mask during the Flight, and no other passengers were infected.
True social disturbances on an Aircraft are impossible, but, as you will note, some Airlines are currently leaving the middle seats unsold, creating a bit more space for passengers. So is it worth it to book your Flight with one of those carriers? Arnold Barnett, George Eastman Management of Management Science, and a statistics professor at MIT's Sloan School of Management, can say yes to this answer. "In an as yet unpublished analysis, Barnett, an expert in mathematical modeling who focuses on health and safety issues, concludes that" COVID-19 is a measurable reduction in risk when the middle seats on the Aircraft intentionally open. Are. "
Barnett used the average of infection rates in New York and Texas in early July to estimate the likelihood that any passengers on board would be considered contagious and universal masking. However, he did not consider passengers' obstacles when boarding, deplaning, or going about the cabin during the Flight; Possibility of transmission between rows; Or how the difference may change with long or short Flights. Although Barnett acknowledges these potential deficiencies and the "underdeveloped" nature of their calculations, he estimates that blocking the middle seat on an Airplane would reduce the likelihood of COVID-19 infection by nearly half.
However, as many have pointed out, leaving the middle seats vacant is not a viable, long-term business model for the industry with razor-thin profit margins. But some Airlines have started selling beach seats, informing passengers that when their Flights are reaching capacity, they are allowed to rebook on less congested Flights without penalty. Airline policies are constantly changing, so be sure to double-check your Airline's current stance before purchasing tickets.
And whatever your Airline's mid-seat policy may be, when there is a risk of contracting a disease in Flight, a window seat may be your safest bet. Having a side wall automatically reduces the number of contacts near you. A window seat also protects you from unintentional close contacts that may occur when other passengers are hoisting bags in the overhead compartment at the start of the Flight or crowding the corridors to get into the Airplane after landing.
With proper precautions, a relatively short domestic Flight still carries moderate risk and should not be undertaken lightly. And, as the CDC notes, the risks do not begin and end with the Flight itself. You should consider the prevalence of the virus in your community and the community you are traveling to, your risk of serious illness from COVID-19 or vulnerable members of your household, and the quarantine requirements at your destination or home.

It is advisable to postpone non-travel at this time
Apurva Pawar said that a new normal would come in 6 months, but the current scenario suggests lots of uncertainty, so how did this period of 6 months was reached upon, and is the time span mentioned feasible.
All Indian Airlines are Continuously Canceling Flights due to Fewer Passengers in the Corona Era
Anshika Motwani
Traveling by plane during the COVID-19 pandemic is difficult for passengers, carriers, airports, health agencies, and governments. The number of people flying has greatly decreased. In 2019, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced 4.5 billion worldwide passenger departures on 39 million scheduled flights (117 per flight on average). In 2019, revenue passenger kilometers (RPKs) traveled totaled 8.7 trillion (with 1911 km per departure on average).
Among all sectors affected by Covid-19, aviation suffered in two respects. Most evidently, there was a concern for contagion. No other industry relies on cramming you into close quarters with outsiders for hours on end while transporting potentially diseased people from one continent to another. There was also the tumbling market, which was less overt. It is a well-known fact in aviation that air transport correlates to GDP. People travel more when they have more capital. But amid this historic downturn, no one was buying plane tickets.
In the past, Airlines have only been stung by one or the other of these factors. Travel was dangerous during Sars, but the world economy did not collapse. Money was tight after the 2008 financial crisis, but traveling was not a health concern. Before this year, these blows have never been delivered in combination in the 110 years since the commercial flight began.
A credit shell is a credit note created against a canceled PNR and can be used by the passenger for a future booking.
IndiGo, India's biggest domestic airline, has refunded approximately Rs. 1,030 crore to customers. "IndiGo completes disbursement of 99.95 % consumer credit shells and refunds," InterGlobe Aviation Ltd's airline said in a statement.
In September 2020, the Supreme Court ordered airlines to automatically refund fares booked for travel until May 24, 2020.
SpiceJet, India's low-cost carrier, was unable to repay passengers' credit shells. National carrier Air India is still yet to refund passengers' complete credit shells. Air Asia and Vistara are yet to return the credit shell to travellers.
AirIndia and other domestic Airlines are severely impacted by the lockout and pandemic-related travel restrictions. According to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, revenues of major Indian scheduled carriers dropped from Rs 46,711 crore in April-September 2019 to about Rs 11,810 crore in the same period in 2020.
Desperate to survive, all major Indian airlines have taken drastic steps in the last year, such as dismissing staff, slashing wages, and sending employees on unpaid leave.
