Jet Airways has suspended payment of March salary to 16,000 employees
Jet Airways (India) Limited has postponed the payment of salary for the March because the cash-strapped carrier is struggling with its financial crisis. Jet Airways Chief People Officer Rahul Taneja informed the employees on Wednesday that in the case of last month's salary, an update will be provided till 9 April.
"... Please be assured that we are constantly discussing and continuing with lenders and institutions to find a solution. In light of the current situation, please note that the salary will be postponed for March 2019, "Taneja said in an email.
Taneja said in the email, "We want to assure you that we are making every effort to get the wages as soon as possible and we request you to be with us in these difficult times."
Jet Airways, who is struggling to continue the flight, has yet to pay salaries for a class of its employees - which includes pilots, engineers and general managers.
It has postponed interest and lease rent payments, on Tuesday, forcing Jet Airways to land dozens of Boeing planes, including 15 aircraft. According to Jet Airways's own website, there are about 80 Boeing 737 aircraft in the fleet of 115 aircraft.
On Wednesday, Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal said in a statement that he has agreed on "every word and condition of the state-run lenders" to secure a permanent future for Jet Airways. He said that he took part in the control of his carrier and "with the sole purpose of ensuring the permanent welfare of the jet family".
Goyal said, "It is my passion that Jet Airways not only survives but also provides opportunities for meaningful employment and development to every employee and will continue to provide our unparalleled happiness to the flying of our patrons for a long time."
Jet Airways has to pay salaries to a section of its employees from Jan, which includes pilots who are threatening to strike.

Jet Airways has suspended payment of March salary to 16,000 employees
Jet Airways (India) Limited has postponed the payment of salary for the March because the cash-strapped carrier is struggling with its financial crisis. Jet Airways Chief People Officer Rahul Taneja informed the employees on Wednesday that in the case of last month's salary, an update will be provided till 9 April.
"... Please be assured that we are constantly discussing and continuing with lenders and institutions to find a solution. In light of the current situation, please note that the salary will be postponed for March 2019, "Taneja said in an email.
Taneja said in the email, "We want to assure you that we are making every effort to get the wages as soon as possible and we request you to be with us in these difficult times."
Jet Airways, who is struggling to continue the flight, has yet to pay salaries for a class of its employees - which includes pilots, engineers and general managers.
It has postponed interest and lease rent payments, on Tuesday, forcing Jet Airways to land dozens of Boeing planes, including 15 aircraft. According to Jet Airways's own website, there are about 80 Boeing 737 aircraft in the fleet of 115 aircraft.
On Wednesday, Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal said in a statement that he has agreed on "every word and condition of the state-run lenders" to secure a permanent future for Jet Airways. He said that he took part in the control of his carrier and "with the sole purpose of ensuring the permanent welfare of the jet family".
Goyal said, "It is my passion that Jet Airways not only survives but also provides opportunities for meaningful employment and development to every employee and will continue to provide our unparalleled happiness to the flying of our patrons for a long time."
Jet Airways has to pay salaries to a section of its employees from Jan, which includes pilots who are threatening to strike.
Naresh Goyal says that he has agreed on every condition of the lenders so that a permanent future can be secured for Jet Airways.
