What are the requirements to begin flight training?
Students enrolling in this airline pilot program (international students) must meet basic requirements:
· First, you must be at least 17 years old.
· Also, you must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
· Students must be able to obtain an FAA medical certificate.
· Most importantly, you must be proficient in English.
· Additionally, you must hold a valid passport with at least 6 months before expiration.
· Furthermore, you will need to apply for and receive an M1 visa.
· Finally, you must be available to be a full-time student 5 days per week.
What is the course sequence for the Airline Pilot Program for International Students?
· Private Pilot Licence Course (3 months)
· Instrument Pilot Rating Course (2 months)
· Single-Engine Commercial Pilot Licence Course (2 months) or:
· Multi-Engine Commercial Pilot Licence Course (2 months)
· Time-build as needed
· Hired as Commercial Airline Pilot
Private Pilot Licence Sequence
Virtual Flight Academy
Virtual Online Flight Academy: First of all, the Virtual Flight Academy course provides online interactive pilot training. This is designed for students to be able to start their flight training from home prior to arriving at our flight school. The course provides training videos with information on Cessna 172s and aircraft systems. Also, you’ll cover aircraft performance, FAA regulations, and the New Smyrna Beach Airport, our home base. Also, virtual training provides you access to Epic’s FAA Flight Instructors. They will provide support. Additionally, the course provides collaboration. ASD and Private Pilot Ground School
Aviation Skill Development (ASD) and Private Pilot Ground School: The ASD is a unique course offered only by Epic. During this phase of flight training, Ground School students will build on the Virtual Flight Academy classes. Also, you can start flight simulator training. The purpose of ASD is to familiarise students with the Cessna 172 and the New Smyrna Beach Airport. Most importantly, ASD increases students’ safety and awareness.
Private Pilot: This course covers flight training Visual Flight Rules (VFR). We teach this in conjunction with the ASD and Ground School. As a result, you will learn basic aerodynamics and FAA regulations. Similarly, you will learn aircraft weight & balance and aircraft performance. Instrument Rating
Instrument Pilot: This course covers flight training Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). For example, you’ll learn procedures specific to instrument flying. Also, you’ll receive additional instruction in meteorology. Furthermore, you can expect more intensive training in flight solely by reference to instruments. Commercial Pilot Licence Sequence
Single-Engine Commercial
Single-Engine Commercial (Option A): This course covers flight training IFR in a single-engine complex aircraft. Furthermore, you will meet commercial pilot standards. After successful completion, you will be able to fly a single-engine complex aircraft in IFR conditions.
Multi-Engine Commercial
Multi-Engine Commercial (Option B): This course covers flight training IFR in a multi-engine aircraft. Similarly, you will meet commercial pilot standards After successful completion, you will be able to command a multi-engine aircraft in IFR conditions.
Time Building
PIC Time Building
Pilot-In-Command Time Building: If you do not reach the minimum time required by your CAA, you may want to train a little longer. The total of flight time during the time building phase is based on respective aviation authorities. Also, the hiring airline will have specific requirements. Each country and airline may vary. Please reference your country’s minimum requirements.
