Location Australia-South Australia-Adelaide 

Reporting to the Head of Safety and Compliance, the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer is responsible for the efficient and cost effective deployment of the company's WHS strategy to best meet the needs of Airline Services and to assist, train and coordinate management and employees on the requirements of legislation, regulations and PLC Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Standards.

This is achieved by demonstrating to management and employees that there is an ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest standards of WHS awareness that is beneficial to Cobham. The WHS Officer is responsible for ensuring & assisting with compliance with legislation and regulations from all staff throughout the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to: 
Hold safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a zero harm and incident/injury free work environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position
Support and promote the Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS) through a Just Culture principle
Administer the Business Unit WHS Management System
Co-ordinate and/or assist with manual updates, forums and WHS processes and procedures, as required, to ensure compliance with current legislation and business requirements
Develop annual WHS audit programs and implement in an effective and cost-efficient manner
Conduct WHS investigations as required
Provide assistance, training and advice to management and staff on WHS issues, as required
Deal with regulatory authorities and other third parties on WHS matters, as required
Produce WHS performance reports and metrics, as required
Manage Cobham's return to work and injury management process
Skills and Experience 
Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in WHS with relevant Tertiary qualifications or equivalent
A minimum of 3 years' experience as an accredited WHS auditor, or equivalent
Good understanding of current of WHS legislation and regulation requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Analysis and research skills with a systematic approach to problem-solving
Previous experience in management of Return to Work and Injury Management Programs
Good working knowledge of MS Office programs
