  • Physically fit and qualified for a Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) Class 1 Medical Certificate Able to meet our flight deck reach requirements .

  • Achieve ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Proficiency level 4 or above.

  • Aged 18 years or above.



Prepare you to fly by:

  • Offering comprehensive ground school theory training and programmes to ensure you build your skills, knowledge and confidence.

  • Providing you with support from world-class instructors who will teach you the theory of flying,systems and regulations required to succeed as an airline pilot.





You will then learn to fly by:

  • Spending time in both single and twin-engined light aircraft (DA40 and DA42)

  • Practicing in jet aircraft Simulators and learning Airline Operating Procedures, Large Jet Handling and Multi-Crew Flying

  • You will receive more information about joining Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong as a Second Officer upon successful completion of the Cadet Pilot programme.



Entry Requirements:

  •  In addition to a strong passion for aviation, you will need to have:

  •  Have an excellent command of written and spoken English.

  •  Have completed secondary school and have good passes in mathematics and science, or have a degree or diploma, or have passes in all ATPL subjects.

  •  Be physically fit and qualify for a Class I Medical The minimum height of a Cadet Pilot applicant for consideration is 157.5cm. AE and TT applicants must meet flight deck reach requirements.

1. Prepare

  •  Make sure your interview attire is neat and tidy and you arrive on time. This means getting ready the night before, ensuring you know how to get to and how long it will take to get to your interview location and have everything you need to bring ready.

  •  Try to relay what you know about our airlines when answering questions. When showcasing your career accomplishments, be specific and relate them to what we are looking for. Use concrete examples to demonstrate and highlight your experience.



Cathay Pacific Pilot Interview Preparation:

Initial A

  •  Computerized aptitude tests


Initial B (Upon passing initial A you are called back for Initial B)

  •  Technical multiple - choice Questionnaire (60mins)

  •  Interview with both Personal (HR) and Technical Questions (45mins)



Stage 2

  •  Abstract Reasoning (IQ) Test - (Raven Test)

  •  Personality/Psychometric test

  •  Group Exercise


Stage 3

  •  Simulator Assessment (For Advanced Entry and Transition Programme)


General Requirements:

First Officer:

  •  ATPL or CPL with a MEIR and same state ATPL examinations credits - obtained without exemption or conversion

  •  Minimum 1500 hours total time (preferred experience 3000)

  •  500 hours in Command or as a First Officer on civil registered transport aircraft certified for multi-crew operations according to the type certificate and having a MTOW > 45,000 kg

  •  Valid Class 1 medical certificate

  •  ICAO English Language Proficiency 

  •  Experience commensurate with age


Second Officer:

  •  Commercial Pilot License

  •  Multi-Engine Instrument Rating

  •  ATPL examination credits (same state as License)

  •  Minimum 250 hours

  •  Valid class 1 medical certificate

  •  ICAO English language proficiency

  •  Experience commensurate with age

  •  Preference given to 500 hours multi-crew operations in transport category aircraft with MTOW > 10 000kg
