Purpose of the Position:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing a wide range of indirect procurement and service contract management projects that support the operation of Wizz Air. This role focuses on strategic project management, supplier negotiations, and ensuring compliance with the Company’s purchasing policies. Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, the Purchasing Manager will oversee the entire provider selection process, from need assessments to contract negotiations, ensuring that all procurement processes are efficiently executed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Needs Assessment:

    • Lead interdepartmental alignment meetings to assess procurement needs.

    • Develop and manage tender and evaluation documentation (e.g., RFP, RFI).

  • Provider Selection:

    • Conduct market research to identify potential providers and handle their queries.

    • Engage in extensive negotiations with providers to secure optimal service agreements.

  • Project Management:

    • Oversee multiple procurement projects of varying sizes and complexity simultaneously.

    • Prepare financial models in Excel for proposal evaluation, including Total-Cost-of-Ownership calculations.

  • Contracting and Compliance:

    • Lead service contracting processes in collaboration with relevant departments.

    • Ensure compliance with internal approval procedures and manage the Company’s contract inventory.

  • Deliverables:

    • Prepare presentations and executive summaries for senior management and Board decision-making.

    • Support the creation and modification of internal procurement procedures and automation tools.


Key Requirements:

  • Educational Background:

    • Completed university or college degree in a relevant field.

  • Professional Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, project management, or management consulting.

    • Strategic procurement and experience with negotiations tactics is an advantage.

  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for negotiations, presentations, and collaboration.

    • Analytical skills for financial evaluations and proposal assessments.

    • Structured and critical thinking with the ability to think creatively and “outside of the box.”

    • Attention to detail, even in daily routines and complex task management.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working accurately under pressure.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments, priorities, and expectations.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) is essential.

    • Knowledge of SAP Ariba is an advantage.

  • Additional Requirements:

    • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

    • Availability for occasional international travel.
