Job Summary:
First Officers operate Southwest's fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft in a highly competent manner.

Responsibilities:
Provide friendly service to internal and external customers.
Work cooperatively with the entire flight and ground team.
Comply with regulations and directives related to flight conduct.
Operate in accordance with Southwest Airlines manuals, specifications, and regulations.
Report irregularities or incidents as required.
Perform passenger assistance activities at their discretion.
Authorities:
Take necessary actions to resolve safety or compliance issues.
Direct the flight crew when assigned by the Captain.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Reading, following instructions, listening, comprehending, and retaining detailed instructions.
Completion of training programs, proficiency checks, and evaluation periods.
Awareness of hazardous situations and ability to handle emergencies.
Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Preferred experience: 500 hours in a fixed-wing turbine, completion of a Destination 225° pathway program, actively flying for 2 of the last 5 years.
Licensing/Certification:
FAA Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with specific ratings.
First Class Medical Certificate.
Valid U.S. Driver's License.
Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Valid passport for international travel.
Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift and move 40 lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Ability to bend, stand, and sit for extended periods.
Other Qualifications:
Well-groomed appearance per company standards.
U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.
Minimum age requirement of 23 at the time of hire.
