Air New Zealand, a leading airline in New Zealand, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Safety Specialist to join our dedicated team. As a Flight Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest level of safety standards across our operations. Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain the airline's flight safety management system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Conduct safety risk assessments and analysis to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks associated with flight operations.
Monitor and analyze safety data, including incident reports, flight data monitoring, and safety performance indicators, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including flight operations, maintenance, and training, to develop and implement safety initiatives and programs.
Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance and support to flight crews and operational staff on safety-related matters, including incident investigation and reporting.
Develop and deliver safety training programs to enhance safety awareness and promote a proactive safety culture.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in aviation safety, and recommend improvements to existing safety systems and processes.
Participate in safety-related meetings, committees, and industry forums to represent the airline's interests and contribute to the development of industry safety standards.
Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and industry organizations, to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a collaborative approach to safety management.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in aviation, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Extensive experience in aviation safety management, preferably in a large commercial airline.
In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations, standards, and best practices, including ICAO, FAA, and EASA requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct safety risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies.
Proven ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in safety management systems (SMS) and related software applications.
Professional certifications in aviation safety management (e.g., Flight Safety Officer, Safety Management Systems Professional) are desirable.
