As an Airline Captain at Air Transat, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft, ensuring the highest levels of safety, customer service, and operational efficiency. You will lead and manage the flight crew, ensuring adherence to regulatory and company standards.
Responsibilities:
Safety Management:
Ensure the safety and security of passengers, crew, and aircraft at all times.
Conduct thorough pre-flight checks and ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
Respond effectively to any in-flight emergencies or irregularities.
Flight Operations:
Oversee and manage all aspects of flight operations from pre-flight planning to post-flight debriefing.
Make final decisions regarding the operation of the flight, including routing and weather conditions.
Monitor and evaluate flight performance to ensure operational efficiency.
Crew Leadership:
Lead and manage the flight crew, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
Conduct briefings and debriefings with the crew before and after each flight.
Foster a collaborative and professional environment among crew members.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
Customer Service:
Provide a high level of customer service, addressing passenger concerns and ensuring a positive travel experience.
Represent Air Transat professionally, upholding the airline’s reputation and values.
Qualifications:
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) issued by a recognized aviation authority.
Type rating on specific aircraft operated by Air Transat.
Current Class 1 Medical Certificate.
Experience:
Minimum of 5,000 hours total flight time, including significant experience as a First Officer.
Previous experience as a Captain is preferred.
Proven experience in international and long-haul operations.
Skills:
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage stressful situations effectively.
Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
Working Conditions:
Irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Extensive travel, including international destinations.
Long periods away from home base.
