Responsibilities:
Safety & Leadership:
Assume full responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft during all phases of flight.
Provide strong and decisive leadership to the First Officer and other crew members.
Foster a positive and professional crew environment that prioritizes safety and teamwork.
Manage emergency situations effectively and communicate clearly with air traffic control and ground personnel.
Pre-Flight & Flight Operations:
Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections and briefings to ensure the aircraft's airworthiness and crew preparedness.
Develop and implement flight plans, considering weather conditions, airspace restrictions, and fuel efficiency.
Utilize advanced navigation and communication systems to ensure smooth and efficient flight operations.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations, procedures, and company policies.
Professionalism & Customer Service:
Represent Qantas with professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Maintain a positive and approachable demeanor while interacting with passengers and crew members.
Uphold Qantas' high standards of service and ensure a comfortable and enjoyable flying experience for all passengers.
Training & Development:
Continuously update your knowledge and skills through mandatory training programs.
Participate in mentoring and development opportunities for junior pilots.
Qualifications:
Valid Australian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
Minimum flying experience requirements will vary depending on aircraft type (typically 4,000+ total flying hours and 1,000+ hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on relevant aircraft)
Type Rating for the specific aircraft you will be flying (e.g., A330, B787)
A strong record of safety and operational excellence
Proven leadership and decision-making skills
Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fast-paced environments
High level of situational awareness and problem-solving skills
