Qantas Airlines is seeking experienced and highly qualified Captains to join our distinguished team. Your leadership will ensure exceptional service delivery to our passengers on both domestic and international flights.
Responsibilities
Flight Operations:
Aircraft Command:
Safely and efficiently command and operate the aircraft.
Pre-Flight Planning:
Conduct thorough pre-flight planning, including weather assessments, route planning, and fuel management.
Flight Inspections:
Perform comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and inspections.
System Monitoring:
Monitor and manage all flight systems and performance throughout the journey.
Crew Leadership:
Team Management:
Lead and manage the flight crew, ensuring clear and effective communication.
Mentorship:
Provide mentorship and support to First Officers and other crew members.
Briefings:
Conduct detailed briefings with crew members prior to each flight, discussing flight plans, weather conditions, and any special considerations.
Safety and Compliance:
Regulatory Adherence:
Adhere to all aviation regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations.
Knowledge Upkeep:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation regulations and industry best practices to ensure safe operations.
Customer Service:
Service Delivery:
Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.
Issue Management:
Handle passenger concerns and emergencies with professionalism and calmness.
Continuous Improvement:
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
Operational Feedback:
Provide feedback and suggestions for improving flight operations and safety procedures.
Safety Focus:
Passenger and Crew Safety:
Ensure the safety of passengers and crew, including pre-flight inspections, monitoring aircraft systems throughout the flight, and making critical decisions regarding weather, emergencies, and flight paths.
Operational Expertise:
Proficiency:
Operate the specific aircraft type assigned proficiently (Qantas operates a diverse fleet including Boeing 737, 787, and Airbus A330, A380, among others).
Navigation:
Handle complex situations, navigate effectively, and adhere to strict safety regulations and Qantas's specific standards.
Additional Responsibilities (may vary depending on specific role):
Pre-Flight Briefings:
Participate in pre-flight briefings and route planning.
Cabin Crew Liaison:
Liaise with cabin crew regarding passenger needs and safety.
Administrative Duties:
Fulfill administrative duties related to flights.
Training Role:
Potentially act as a Training Captain for First Officers.
Requirements
Licensing and Certification:
ATPL: Valid Australian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
Medical Certificate: Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
Type Rating: Type rating on relevant Qantas aircraft or ability to obtain type rating.
Experience:
Flying Hours:
Minimum of 6,000 hours total flying time.
Command Hours:
Minimum of 2,500 hours in command of multi-engine aircraft.
Operational Experience:
Experience in long-haul, international, and domestic operations is preferred.
