Air Canada is seeking experienced and highly qualified Captains to join our team. As a Captain at Air Canada, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft, ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, and professionalism. You will lead a team of aviation professionals to deliver exceptional service to our passengers on both domestic and international flights.
Responsibilities:
Flight Operations:
Command and operate the aircraft safely and efficiently.
Conduct thorough pre-flight planning, including weather assessments, route planning, and fuel management.
Perform comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and inspections.
Monitor and manage all flight systems and performance throughout the journey.
Crew Leadership:
Lead and manage the flight crew, ensuring clear and effective communication.
Provide mentorship and support to First Officers and other crew members.
Conduct detailed briefings with crew members prior to each flight, discussing flight plans, weather conditions, and any special considerations.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all aviation regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
Ensure compliance with Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation regulations and industry best practices to ensure safe operations.
Customer Service:
Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.
Handle passenger concerns and emergencies with professionalism and calmness.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
Provide feedback and suggestions for improving flight operations and safety procedures.
Safety First:
As with any Captain role, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew is paramount. This involves pre-flight inspections, monitoring aircraft systems throughout the flight, and making critical decisions regarding weather, emergencies, and the flight path.
Leadership and Crew Management:
Air Canada Captains take command of the flight deck, supervising First Officers and potentially other crew members. This requires strong leadership, communication, and the ability to foster a positive and professional working environment.
Operational Expertise:
Air Canada Captains need to be proficient in operating the specific aircraft type assigned to them (Air Canada operates a large fleet with various jet aircraft). They can handle complex situations, navigate effectively, and adhere to strict safety regulations and Air Canada's specific standards.

Requirements:
Valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
Extensive experience as a pilot, typically with thousands of flying hours (specific requirements not publicly available).
Type rating for the specific aircraft type they will fly (A330, B787 etc. - Air Canada uses various models).
Strong leadership and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Qualifications:
Licensing and Certification:
Valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
Valid Category 1 Medical Certificate.
Type rating on relevant Air Canada aircraft or ability to obtain type rating.
Experience:
Minimum of 6,000 hours total flying time.
Minimum of 2,500 hours in command of multi-engine aircraft.
Experience in long-haul, international, and domestic operations is preferred.

High level of technical proficiency and knowledge of aircraft systems.
