Openings in Qantas as a Direct Entry Second Officer
As a Second Officer, you'll perform an essential role as part of the Qantas operating crew on our long haul services. Our Second Officers perform critical duties on our A380, A350, A330 and B787-9 aircraft.
Qantas Second Officers are trained at one of the world's most respected and professional flight training establishments - Qantas Flight Training. You'll be able to develop and learn with dedicated staff who are committed to our industry leading safety standards. You'll work with experienced Qantas pilots to develop your operational experience on an active line and have the opportunity to travel the world on some of the most technologically-advanced aircraft in the industry.
As a Second Officer, you'll form part of a team dedicated to ensuring the safe operation of the aircraft, delivering premium customer service and upholding Qantas' core professional values.
Qantas Direct Entry Second Officer minimum requirements:
*An Australian ATPL (Aeroplane/Helicopter), or Australian CPL with all ATPL subjects.
Minimum hour requirements of:
*500 hours in Command of a powered fixed wing airplane (excluding ICUS),
300 hours in Command of a multi engine aeroplane (excluding ICUS),
250 hours in Command of a powered fixed wing aeroplane and 1,000 hours as Co-Pilot of a multi crew, multi-engine turbine aeroplane (excluding ICUS),
250 hours of flight time in a powered fixed wing aeroplane as pilot in command, or pilot in command under supervision (of which 70 hours must be as pilot in command), and 1,500 hours as Co-Pilot of a multi-crew turbine aeroplane, or
250 Hours in Command of a powered fixed wing aeroplane and 500 hours in Command of rotary wing aircraft (excluding ICUS).
*A Part 61 Multi Engine Aeroplane Class Instrument Rating (excluding a private instrument rating).
*Endorsements for IAP 2D and IAP 3D on Australian (civil) instrument rating.
*A current instrument proficiency check (MEA).
*Australian citizenship or hold Australian permanent residency status.
*A current passport with unrestricted access to all Qantas ports of call with at least 12 months validity.
*A current CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate (or be eligible to hold one).
*English Level 6 proficiency.
Preference will be given to candidates that meet or exceed the following experience levels:
*2,000 hours total time,
*500 hours multi-engine, and
*multi-crew experience.

QantasLink Direct Entry First Officer
Minimum requirements:
*CASA ATPL (A) or CASA CPL(A) with passes in all Australian ATPL theory subjects.
*English Language Proficiency Level 6 on your licence.
*Hold endorsements for Instrument Approach 2D and 3D on an Australian Instrument Rating – *Multi Engine Aeroplane. New Zealand applicants must have converted their licence/ratings to an Australian Licence/Rating prior to applying for a position.
*Total aeronautical experience of 500 hours or greater.
*Current CASA Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate.
*Australian citizenship or hold Australian permanent residency status.
*Be willing and able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
*The ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card.
*Hold a current passport with unrestricted access to all countries Qantas operates to, with at least 12 months validity.
