Job Description

As a Flight Attendant at Southwest Airlines, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall experience of passengers during their flight. This position requires excellent customer service skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to handle various situations with professionalism and care.


Key Responsibilities


Safety and Security

Conduct pre-flight safety checks and ensure all safety equipment is operational.

Demonstrate safety procedures and ensure passengers understand safety protocols.

Respond to in-flight emergencies and provide first aid if necessary.

Maintain awareness of security threats and report suspicious behavior or items.


Customer Service

Greet passengers as they board and assist with finding seats and stowing carry-on luggage.

Address passenger inquiries and provide information about flight schedules, destinations, and procedures.

Serve beverages, meals, and snacks and manage special requests and dietary needs.

Handle passenger complaints and resolve issues promptly and courteously.


In-Flight Operations

Prepare the cabin for takeoff, landing, and throughout the flight.

Conduct cabin checks to ensure compliance with federal regulations and airline policies.

Coordinate with the flight crew to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Assist passengers with deplaning and ensure a clean cabin environment for the next flight.


Team Collaboration

Work closely with other flight attendants and the flight crew to ensure a seamless flight experience.

Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on safety procedures, customer service techniques, and company policies.

Contribute to a positive work environment and support colleagues as needed.


Qualifications


Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.


Experience: 

Previous customer service experience is highly valued. Experience in the hospitality, travel, or airline industry is a plus.


Certifications: 

Must obtain and maintain FAA certification; CPR and First Aid certification are often required.


Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure

Strong problem-solving abilities

Attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks


Physical Requirements: 

Must meet physical requirements for the role, including height, reach, and the ability to lift and move heavy items.

Working Conditions


Schedule: 

Flight attendants work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules can vary and may involve long shifts.


Travel: 

Extensive travel is required, both domestically and internationally. Flight attendants often spend time away from home and may have layovers in different cities.


Environment: 

Work is performed in an aircraft cabin, which may involve working in confined spaces and dealing with varying temperatures and altitudes.
