Position Summary:

United Airlines is seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as the Director of Procurement for Airframe Maintenance. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of becoming the industry’s best airline. In this role, you will oversee strategic and operational aspects of Airframe Maintenance procurement, including financial risk mitigation strategies aimed at achieving lower long-term expenses compared to industry peers. You will also coordinate efficient sourcing for all Airframe Maintenance parts and components.

As the Director, you will manage a multi-billion dollar annual spend through global Airframe Maintenance sourcing and procurement. This includes overseeing multi-modal logistics and inventory within the tech ops supply chain, ensuring balanced access to both off-airport and on-airport infrastructure and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement procurement strategies for Airframe Maintenance to optimize performance and reduce total cost of ownership.
Support the Airframe Maintenance strategy by incorporating insights from the Center of Excellence.
Lead governance activities and develop strong relationships with business unit leaders to drive cost- and risk-reducing procurement strategies.
Guide strategic and transactional purchasing teams through RFx processes and apply best sourcing practices.
Monitor and evaluate team performance, attract and retain talent, and ensure the implementation of negotiated contracts.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Over 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in management roles within sourcing.
Proven success in procurement, ideally in Airframe Maintenance.
Deep understanding of industry processes, products, and categories.
Experience in managing and interpreting large data sets.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and change-management abilities.
Extensive negotiation skills.
Proficiency in written and executive communication.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, particularly with geographically dispersed teams.
