Chief Pilot Role at Wizz AIR Abu Dhabi:

Position in the Organization: The Chief Pilot at Wizz AIR Abu Dhabi, also known as the Nominated Person Flight Operations (NP FLT), reports directly to the Accountable Manager.

Responsibilities: The Nominated Person Flight Operations (NP FLT) reports directly to the Accountable Manager and is accountable for:

Fulfilling the duties of NP Flight Operations as outlined by GCAA regulations.
Ensuring safety, security, and regulatory compliance across all flight operations activities, including Operations Control, Cabin Operations, Operations Planning, specific approvals, and contracted activities.
Allocating adequate resources to flight operations and escalating issues to the Accountable Manager as necessary.
Developing policies that facilitate safe flight operations under Wizz AIR Abu Dhabi's AOC.
Ensuring sufficient staffing of pilots and cabin crew to support operational needs.
Ensuring compliance with Safety Management System procedures and processes, addressing operational risks based on the risk tolerability matrix.
Promoting a safety-focused culture throughout the Wizz organization through effective leadership.
Timely resolution of non-compliance issues.
Liaising with regulatory authorities on flight operations matters.
Collaborating with the Chief Cabin Crew to oversee safety, security, and compliance in cabin operations.
Overseeing flight crew activities and training compliance with FTL and other relevant regulations, ensuring operational efficiency.
Supervising Operations Control activities for safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Collaborating with the Flight Operations Coordinator and Performance Pilot on day-to-day operational safety, compliance, IT implementations, and partnerships with Wizz AIR subsidiaries.
Monitoring deviations from company standards, implementing corrective actions, and conducting systematic risk assessments of flight operations processes.
Establishing flight operational policies, standards, and procedures based on AIRbus guidance.
Coordinating with the Crew Training Manager to ensure flight crew training meets regulatory and company standards.
Collaborating with Senior HR Manager on workforce practices affecting flight operations staff.
Working with Safety, Security, and Compliance Managers on related matters including FDA compliance.
Assessing future operational risks and planning resources, technologies, systems, or processes to mitigate these risks.
Establishing AIRport and crew operating standards for Wizz AIR Abu Dhabi.
Participating in Safety Action Board, Weekly Flight Operations meetings, Recruitment Committee, and Operation and Procedures group meetings.
Having authority to decide on safety risk tolerability within their functional area.
Representing Wizz AIR in relevant industry associations and bodies.

The NP FLT oversees all aspects of Flight Operations, focusing on safety, legality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency, including:

Daily management of pilots
Ensuring effective communication with pilots
Coordination of flight operations during base visits
Leadership, management, and development of Flight Operations staff to achieve objectives
Upholding discipline standards among pilots
Developing a command upgrade plan and identifying potential candidates
Monitoring and addressing delay codes attributed to flight operations
Maintaining a database on pilot attrition and generating monthly reports
Familiarity with pilot recruitment processes and support when necessary
Understanding crew training department objectives
Involvement in annual compensation reviews for pilots
Providing timely feedback to senior management on pilot-related compensation issues
Collaborating closely with other operational departments for AIRline efficiency
Ensuring timely availability of adequately trained and qualified pilots, including recruitment responsibilities
Maintaining accurate crew records regarding duty periods and flight times
Ensuring company Operations Manuals (Parts A, B, and C) comply with regulations
Ensuring accurate accident reporting and adherence to procedures for notifying authorities
Recording, analyzing, and reporting deviations from company standards, incidents, and accidents related to Flight Operations, with necessary corrective actions
Attending relevant industry forums and conferences

Authorities of the Role:

The NP FLT is empowered to:

Approve or reject new routes and aerodrome category assignments.
Approve changes in OM Part-A, Part-B, Part-C, and MEL.
Assign crew members to operate, command, or perform duties on Wizz AIR Abu Dhabi AIRcraft.
Accept MEL and approve extensions of MEL rectification interval extensions (RIE), or delegate this authority as per MEL procedures.
Activate the Central Maintenance Computer (CMC).
Suspend operations within their scope if deemed necessary.
Approve safety enhancement initiatives.
Make decisions on risk tolerance following the risk tolerability matrix.
Coordinate with regulatory authorities.
Approve department manuals.
Liaise with original equipment manufacturers and other external entities.
Approve maintenance check flights.

Skills and Competencies:

Proficient in spoken and written English.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Effective under pressure.
Familiarity with AIMS.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (minimum three years).
Hold or have held a valid flight crew license appropriate for operations under the AOC.
Practical experience in applying aviation safety standards and practices.
Thorough understanding of UAE/GCAA regulations and AOC Operations Specifications.
Knowledgeable about Operations Manuals and management systems, preferably in aviation.
Relevant management experience, preferably in a similar organization.
Five years of relevant work experience, including two years in aeronautics in an appropriate role.
Acceptance by GCAA as a Nominated Person (Flight Operations).
